The Story of Cashmere's "Downy Hair and Wool
The harvesting of the downy hair
Spring is the season of harvest, when the year's hard work comes to fruition.

Cashmere "wadding" is the downy hair of cashmere.
Cashmere is covered with thick, hard, long bristles, but the soft downy hair grows inside the bristles. It is this downy hair that becomes the cashmere sweater. The downy hair is harvested in spring around May. The downy hairs of cashmere are combed out with a rake (of course, the rake is not pointed) as they change from winter to summer hairs. The winter fleece naturally falls out, so people take it before it falls out.

Cashmere cannot be sheared like sheep. (It takes about one hour to card the wool of one animal. It takes about an hour to card the wool of a single animal. When I experienced carding as an amateur, it took me about five minutes, and my arms were sore. During the shearing season, the herders spend all day combing the downy hairs of the cashmere, which is quite hard work. But spring is the time of harvest, when the pastoralists' hard work is rewarded, and they tell us with a smile that it is not a hardship for them.
The amount of cashmere that can be harvested from one cow is only 180 grams, which is about the same as the regular size of UTО Cashmere Angel's stole.

These days, knitted and woven fashion materials are mostly made of chemical fibers.
Cashmere is an agricultural and livestock product that is lovingly bred and grazed by pastoralists as livestock and harvested for its winter downy hair that grows back over the harsh winter. Cashmere is a typical SDG (Sustainable Development Goal) agricultural product advocated by the United Nations because it can be harvested every year by raising it. It is an ecological material that returns to nature even if it is disposed of after use.
