If a furball forms
Remove furballs as often as possible

If a hairball forms, it is better to cut it off with scissors or the like, not to pull it out, otherwise it may cut the sweater itself (I once made the mistake of cutting it off myself). These days, there is a hair ball remover on the market that is as easy to use as a razor. It removes hairballs quite nicely.
Some people say that removing the furballs will make the sweater thinner, but removing the furballs is not a problem at all for the sweater.
If you can, please keep a simple fluff ball remover on hand.

My experience over many years of wearing cashmere sweaters is that cashmere is delicate but not soft, so there is no need to be overly nervous. Also, although it is easy to get pilling when you first buy a sweater, if you remove the pilling every time you get a pilling, it often disappears after a while.
