The essence of a brand
The true value of a good product lies in its raw materials and manufacturing
We at UTO believe that the true value of a product lies in its raw materials and manufacturing.
It is said that "first-rate materials produce first-rate products and second-rate products, but second-rate materials produce second-rate products, but never first-rate products. Of course, the same can be said of manufacturing. Everyone agrees that first-rate products can only be created when first-rate materials and first-rate craftsmanship are combined.
Without the combination of "first-rate materials and first-rate craftsmanship," no matter how good the advertising and sales methods may be, the product cannot be called first-rate.
Fashion brands are divided into two categories. One is factory brands developed from manufacturing, and the other is designer brands born from designers such as Paris Collection.
As you all know, Louis Vuitton was originally a bag maker, Hermes a saddler. Gucci is a leather goods store and the result of pursuing manufacturing is the trust and brand today, and they place the highest value on manufacturing by manufacturing in-house or in dedicated factories.
On the other hand, designer brands such as Chanel, Dior, and Armani are widely recognized for their pursuit of excellence in design, so they are constantly changing in accordance with trends, and the factories that produce them change accordingly.
Most fashion brands are wholesale apparel brands and are produced at outside OEM factories. Factories are always required to respond to changing trends. It is difficult to create products that take time to pursue a single material or design because the materials used usually change with each season and trend. The more excellent the OEM factory is, the more confidential it is to the apparel industry, and the less known it is to the customer.
UTO is a manufacturing brand. We focus on cashmere as a material, and our craftsmen at our own factory in Kitakami City, Iwate Prefecture, Japan, are constantly improving their skills and knowledge of cashmere, carefully making each piece of cashmere without being driven by mass production.
The simplified distribution process of in-house planning, manufacturing, and sales has enabled us to realize such reasonable prices for good quality products, even though the quality is as good as that of the world's top brands.
